As the keyboard is the part of the phone we probably use the most I wondered which one you use? Can you state the one you use and why you think it is the best one?

Also, has anyone come across a keyboard with a British

I just use the Swype keyboard - feels more like an iPhone keyboard...

I use the stock HTC one with the mod to enable voice to text - I don't actually use this feature, but I like the other modifications it allows. For example, the ability to remove the horribly annoying pop-up showing which key you pressed and the ability to re-instate auto spaces after punctuation - the stock keyboard on my HTC hero did this until a firmware upgrade apparently disabled it.

For portrait mode I use the numeric pad layout because I find it a joy to use for tapping out quick messages.

Ps. Have any former Hero owners noticed that the sound and vibration feedback on the Desire isn't nearly as accurate and helpful as it was on the hero? Not that it matters since the Desire doesn't have an issue with keyboard lag, so I've found I don't need any feedback enabled.

I've been using Swype the last couple of weeks and its the best keyboard I've used on a touchscreen phone so far. Its worth a try if your looking for an alternative.

Original stock keyboard for me, I've tried few different ones but I always end up coming back to this one.

I use the compact qwerty because I find I can type on that the quickest :)

I use Smart Keyboard Pro. More than enough signs, and symbols included.

I would LOVE a transparent Keyboard with coloured/light up letters though.

    Does such a thing exists?

Using Jonasl's HTC_IME mod. Like the fact that it looks pretty much identical to the stock keyboard but has some handy features like voice button, custom domains for the url keyboard and love the fact I can swipe across it to change between qwerty/T9 keyboard etc. Insane amount of options, definately recommended if youre after a stock keyboard but with many more options.

Stock. Works fine for me, no need to change. I don't like replacing working stock with further apps if I don't feel a need to.

Swype for me, thought it would be naff and a novelty quickly dumped but it's actaully pretty amazing, can't see it not becoming the norm on all phones soon.

I've been using the mod keyboard with voice recognition but in the last week started using swype -by far the best thing I've done in ages.

Swype (for English) and CedIME (for Chinese). Both are brilliant keyboards!

I use Swype - It is pretty damn good, much quicker to use than a traditional keyboard.

I got Swype yesterday after they opened it up again and it's just far superior to any other keyboard. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't used it yet to just give it a go - I'd be suprised if anyone finds it slower or less accurate.

I couldn't believe it when I tried it, so fast and so good at working out what word you typed. you don't have to be that accurate either. Amazing.
