I got myself a pair of theses Philips SHE5920 In Ear-buds for Christmas. I have had them before and love them. Great sound and great at blocking out outside noises. [IMG]

I have so many different types of headphones I have two different pairs of Sony, one from a couple years ago that I love because it has a 6ft cord on it (MDR V150)

I have some skull candy and like them

I used to be completely opposed to Beats by Dre because everywhere I went to demo them had music that wasn't what they were for. I finally listened to the music I like through both the Solo and Monster Beats and I really liked what I heard. And depending on how Christmas shopping ends, I may be purchasing either. I really do like the simple design of them too.

Sony MDR XB700 headphones from Amazon large but very comfortable with natural bass (can get fantasic sounds on my CowonJ3 with jet settings) and RHA earbuds for when I'm out.

Coming from SkullCandy Titan earbuds, what are the Beats by Dre earbuds like? I don't particularly care for the Dre thing, but Monster hardware has never failed me. I listen to mostly Rock of all kinds, and some composed music. Even if they aren't the best, are they an upgrade to what I've got now?

Yes, they are. Even the knock-offs I posted about are a nice step up as I've had a few SkullCandy headphones.

So you are someone that uses Monster Beats by Dre?

I have only used them instore plugged into you know the demo box with the "ideal" settings. Are they as good when you just plug them straight into a computer or a device without changing any settings? Because I can get my skull candy hesh to sound pretty close, but thats when I plug my computer into my mixer and adjust the eq there, and I have to change it for every song.

I am really thinking about getting monsters but I'm just not sure since they have a hefty price tag

No it's the other way around. I'm someone who uses Skullcandys and wants to try Beats, but only if they are better. I know they aren't the BESTbut out of the two, which are better.

Well I just got the skullcandy skull crushers for a present. They have their own mini amplifier for the subs in the head phones, but its a cheap sounding bass. There are a couple places you can try out beats, one is Target.. a few of them have Beats headphone areas to listen to the music with them. The other I know of is Best Buy, and there you can compare them to other brands like skullcandy, or even Senheiser and other brands like that

Hey, another COWON user! Howdy! I have the X5 with the latest factory software. (There's a FOSS system software available, but I've been pretty happy with the stock setup.)

I used to have circa 1990 Sony headphones that just covered the ear. Very light weight, great sound, just not much bass. I broke mine ages ago, and never found a suitable replacement in that form factor. Sony comes out with the occasional gem. I had a Sony portable CD player (again circa 1990) that was no bigger than 2 CD "gem boxes", sounded great, and even had an optional IR remote for use with a stereo system. Shame I sold it.

I'm hanging onto my HD-based COWON, even after I replace it. How do you like the J3? Enough power?

I got a pair of Skullcandy Skull Crushers for Christmas. I would not recommend them to anyone though. They had what I thought was going to be a cool feature.. a "Bass Amplified Subwoofer." You put 1 AA battery in the "amp" and you can turn the power of the amp up and down for more power to the subs in the headphones. While it sounds like a decent idea the bass produced from these "subwoofers" is so cheap and lacks depth. In stores they cost $70 and they are out performed by to pairs of my $20 sony headphones. The only way I was able to get decent sound out of them was by plugging them into my mixer and dropping the low down to -10, and even then they still weren't the greatest.

I tried writing a review on their website but Skullcandy apparently rejects negative reviews, because when I asked why it was rejected (since it met their guide lines) they replied saying they have the right to reject any review for any reason to their discretion. And replied telling them I would not be purchasing from them nor would I be suggesting them to anyone with that being said.
What was my favorite brand has lost me..

    Sony V6 monitor headphones.

Not the best in the world (or at least I wouldn't know, as I am not an audiophile), but they block out external sound well, which is invaluable for DJing.

I got a pair of Pugs Gear Electronics at the local Quik Mart. They actually have great sound. I think they were under 20 bucks.

I'm not an audiophile so I am probably missing out but :

Headphones (Do not have, but want) : Sennheiser - But it will be a while because the set I want isn't cheap :D

Headset - PC - Work - Turtle Beach EarForce Z2 (mostly for Skype)

Headset - PC - Home - Just bought Razer Kraken Pro (My faithful MS Headset is dead, and Razer was having 50% off CES promotion)

Earbuds - Phone/Tablet - Cheapy Amazon/Monoprice (I have both). Work fine for me in those scenarios.

Don't judge me too sharply :)

I use creative headphone, the cheapest variety. The problem is after a year or so it plays sound only from one ear mostly, sometimes from left ear sometimes from right but not from both.

I use the behind the neck kind of bluetooth headphones. All the controls functions work and you can make and accept calls with them.
