    This isn't a quiz game or anything, but I hear terms like "power user" and "light user" thrown around a lot, and I'm not exactly sure where I fit in.

    I consider myself kind of savy when it comes to phones, but mostly in the research part before purchasing (thanks to an ill conceived MotoQ purchase which taught me a lesson). So I know what I was getting inot with the Evo, the pluses, and possible minuses of the phone.

    This is my third smartphone, after a WinMo 5 Moto Q (if you even count that POS) and a Blackberry Curve.

    My data usage is probably moderate. I do go online with the phone a lot, but I don't think I'd have to be worried about approaching any data caps.

    I have a decent knowledge of apps, but I'm know sure if that's because I'm a smart phone guy, or because I know this secret trick called "googling it."

    I have no idea how to root, nor any interest in rooting (at least not until the warranty is up.).

    The reason I ask this is because even though there are simple fixes for some of the downsides to this phone, many detractors will say that the casual user would not think to do it, or be able to do it. I've have had no problem custimizing my phone, and I really don't think I'd be considered a "power user."

    So what would you say I am? A light, moderate, or power user? I'm leaning towards moderate. And honestly, as easy and intuitive as it was for me to change a couple settings to improve batter life, I imagine a light user would have no problem doing the same.

    Or am I really a genius and changing these settings are as hard as some tech sites say?

    I think it has to with how much your on your phone, not your knowledge of its functions. If you are on your phone nonstop i would say that makes you a power user.

    what he said!!! :)

    it is not about how you setup your phone...
    this terminology is about how much the device gets used as a smartphone.
    And I think it does not include talk on phone as part of it. Talking on the phone .. can be done with a dumbphone.

    this is just me .. pulling this out of my rear bottom hole....
    the time on the phone: game, web, research, video, maps, social sites, and anything that does not include your talk minutes.

    During the day:
    Hog = more than 50%
    Power = 30-49%
    medium = 15-29%
    light = less than 15%

    I am medium.. about 25% on the phone ..

    Im one of these casual users. I have been coming onto this site for over 3 weeks, trying to decide if I want the evo. DO I really have to do all these fixes to get the phone to work for me? I want to be able to use the phone's functions without having to have a degree in rooting, ect ect. LOL Maybe I should wait a month or so for HTC and sprint to get things worked out so a novice like me can enjoy this cool looking phone.

    IMO Power user implies a focus on functionality. Someone who is on their phone nonstop but it just using core features (e.g. texting, phone, browser) may be a heavy user but not a power user. A power user looks for the maximum functionality out of their device via apps, configuration, etc.
