    just out of interest,

this post is not intended as a criticism of any other phone or manufacturer, im just interested to see what people had before buying the Desire.

please only post to mention your handset, not to bash other phones or go off topic.

    thanks. :D

I had an iPhone 3G by the way.

G2 Touch (T-Mobile's rebranded HTC Hero). Excellent phone in many ways, but I got a free upgrade to a Desire because of issues with connectivity.

Iphone 3G, which was returned as faulty, I then went back to my Sony "dumb phone" for a few weeks until my o2 contract expired to allow me to move to orange for my desire

I had Sony Ericsson C902 so the HTC Desire is my first smart phone. I would have probably stuck with Sony Ericsson if their X10 wasn't so far behind on the software!

N95. I got a hero to replace it, but a couple of days after I got it I saw the desire was coming out, so as I was within my first week or whatever it is I got them to swap it. :)

I think I went through just about every other type of phone, the only serious competitor was the Iphone though and some of the other Android models X10 for example. Everything else was laughable.

Samsung Tocco - slight difference to the Desire. The Tocco is perhaps the worst touch screen phone ever. I had a Nokia 6500 before that and that and the screen was more responsive than the Tocco - and it didn't even have a touchscreen

    My last two phone:
HTC Touch HD - 2 horribly painful months before i got p'd off with it
    Nokia 6700 Classic - 12 months
The HTC desire was a very welcome change from the above!
