With the Gen 2 pricing for the N7 looking to be $270 for the 32GB would I better off with the Gen 1 model at the $199 price point...will the newer model be worth the 25% premium? What you say??

The current 32GB is $249 so thats a $20 increase not $70. The current 16GB is $199, then the new 16GB is rumored for $229.

Yep, my local Wally World has the 32GB model marked down to $199. The camera in the new model makes no difference to me, so it comes down to the processor and higher res screen...I'm coming from an Acer A100 which has a pretty crappy screen, the N7 (even the older model) would be a big improvement. I'm not sure if the processor and more RAM would make that big of a difference but I'm not sure.

Experience (long and bitter experience) suggests that if the tablet is for your own use you'll regret not getting the latest version *every day*. After all, it's not as if even the new version is horrifically expensive.

If the tablet is for your partner or children get them the cheap old version :)

I think like this as well, but then I remember... If it's on the shelves in stores, it's already outdated! LOL

i would say wait for the new one. I think the extra $$ is totally worth it. Even if it was just the HD screen alone i think it's worth it. ..but take it a step further and wait about a month after the new one comes out. Let any kinks get worked out. The second batch is usually better than the first.

Well I decided to just go ahead and get the older model...I just didn't see the $70 difference for what I'll use it for. So far I really like it, the screen blows away my old Acer. I haven't downloaded any of my apps yet, gotta unlock the bootloader and root it first. Let the fun begin!

Well, after day two I'm impressed! I unlocked and rooted it and flashed Paranoid Android 3.67 along with Lean Kernel 1.7. This thing rocks and I'm totally happy with my purchase, no buyers remorse at all! Zipping along at 1500 Mhz...

Yes, but you are getting a different design, and better hardware than the current one.
