Even current tablets work very well to transfer pictures from cameras. And it looks like there are several apps in the Market with RAW file support.

Personally I plan to surf the web and play games.

The slim form factor and large but portable screen has sold me for doing some stuff I've always wanted to do on my phone, but never could. I've always thought the Kindle was a really cool idea, but also waaaay overpriced. Hundreds of dollars for something to store books on with no other functionality? Now I'll be able to take a bunch of ebooks to go. I also don't always want to take my laptop everywhere, especially if I want to watch a movie or surf the web in bed or in class. Note taking is going to be incredible, and I plan on taking it to all of my classes. And I might even play some games on it too, though I'm not a big fan of the "serious" games, because how serious can you get with only touch controls?

I'm gonna get the keyboard dock w/ it and use it as a light netbook to take notes in class and surf the web.

if that is ALL ur going to be doing with it u might want to think about buying the original transformer...it's much cheaper and u don't need all that tegra 3 power just to take notes and surf the web ;)

I will be using it for all the basic stuff: surfing da web, watching tv/movies on my lunch break, etc. I will also be trying to use this thing for as much as I possibly can, meaning using it as a headrest movie player for my daughters on long trips, mount it in my work truck to use for google maps from job to job, music player in truck, pdf viewer for equipment manuals, I have an app that works for my company's software=inventory, customer info, etc. I'll be closely watching the modding community for roms and possibly running linux and windows 8....

There are a ton of possibilities as the Android OS matures.

I plan to develop a program that actually makes ice cream sandwiches and spits them out the charge port for me to eat.

    It will be awesome.

Are there any apps that will display pictures as they are taken from my Canon DSLR, either wired or wireless?

You bring up a good point... why would you need a processor that fast? Not only am I trying to convince myself a tablet is a justified purchase, but if I could save $200 (expecting the 16GB T1 will be available for $300) it would make the decision easier.

I plan on playing light games, using the internet, checking email, and watching SD movies/Youtube videos (on tablet and through it on TVs also). I always try to future-proof my purchases, but am I going to even need the T2 to accomplish these tasks?

I'll be using the Prime to play back mkv movies, both locally and streamed from my network. There's game emulation, which will allow me to use any USB HID gamepad. Then there's remote desktop access, which gives me desktop productivity assuming I have a data connection (the dock and USB mouse are key here). Surfing the net, of course. And light gaming, since I'm not that big on touchscreen games.

And I will be making my wife happy since I can give her my OG Galaxy Tab.

Oh, I almost forgot -- comic reader. The size and dimensions of the Prime make it a premiere comic book reader.

My PC just died, and rather than spending the time and possibly money to fix something I barely use anymore, I'm thinking of taking the plunge and using this tab/keyboard as my only computer. I still have some practicality reservations though, like how it will handle an external drive or optical drive, if at all...
