so ive been thinking about rooting my phone. im gettign tired of seeing the "low disk space" icons and sometimes the lag is just annoying...

i just dont know what rom im looking for.
ive been looking at cyanogen and thinking about going with that but ive been reading theres problems with the wifi and other minor stuff. so i was hoping you guys could help me out.

im looking for a ROM thats fast, stable, and still syncs up with google cal and contacts and gmail and gtasks and etc. but i also want it to be reliable in terms of other things such as the alarm clock, bluetooth, wifi, gps and whatnot. i also want it to be compatible with google voice... also, i would like longer battery life while keeping adequate performance up. so many underclock while my screen is off and overclock while its on? (if there is such an option)

also, another question i had was if i flashed a vanilla ROM on, would i lose all my sense widgets? and if i do, is it hard to find good looking widgets without paying any money?

    thanks.

Cyanogen has basically no issues right now for the vast majority of users including myself. It's pretty much bugless for me I've been running the one frmo a couple nights ago and it hasn't crashed or anything on me.

All ROMs will sync with google services - this is part of android. Changing your CPU profiles can be managed either by the kernel or just by the SetCPU application, where you can set it to adjust your clock speed based on a bunch of different factors. It's available for free on this forum somewhere or it's like 2 bucks in the market.

Flashing a vanilla ROM will lose your sense widgets. I don't find a need for them. There's an old version of Fancy Widget that looks just like the HTC clock widget from before they were forced to change it that you can find with a google search.

I'd recommend you spend some time on the XDA Development forum trying out different ROMs until you find one you like.

do you feel that cyanogen is faster than stock speed?

and youre using the CM7 nightlies... thats the gingerbread one isnt it? really absolutely no problems? have you tried activating wifi, gps, bluetooth and etc? and is it laggy?

from here it looks like it is..

Based on your post, OP, I'd try out Incredibly Re-Engineered. It's my daily driver and has everything you listed above that you want/need. it's a fantastic ROM with great support as well. The dev, Chingy, is in final stages of testing a new version which should be released anyday now

I've been using evo hybrid roms for a while and love them... either re-engineered or redemptive revolution I would highly suggest... I used both of them for over a month and they look wonderful and work flawless

You forgot to mention one of the best hybrids out there, Warm 2.2. Was my daily before I found Incredibly

It's definitely faster. I'm having next to no problems. Wifi and GPS work perfectly, and on the XDA thread, people are saying that bluetooth is working (I don't have one). The only issue that some people are experiencing is when a call comes in, there won't be a slider so you can answer it - if it happens, you have to turn the screen off and then back on with the power button and it shows up. I've never experienced it, but others have.

It's not laggy at all. I'd give it a try - the screen on/off animations and the feel of gingerbread are really nice. I just miss the Sense People app and phone - the stock ones are pretty lacking.
