There are several in the market but all have very mixed reviews. I want to be able to compose a text and then have it send at a time/date in the future that I set.

I have a Droid 3, if that matters.

    Suggestions?

I use sms scheduler. Haven't had any problems with it so far.

I use "Handcent" which is a replacement SMS app. It allows you to compose and schedule a text. Just make sure to have it scheduled to send when the phone is powered on. (it will not send when powered off.)

I didn't know handcent could do that--could you tell me the steps? I had Handcent on my Droid, haven't gotten it for the Droid 3 yet, didn't know if it was worth it

Sure. They just added it this year. Within Handcent press menu> schedule tasked and then set up your message. Make sure to set it for a time that your phone will be on. It will not send if phone is powered off. Make sure Handcent is running in the background as well, if you use a task killer.

Wow thanks. I guess I WILL be getting Handcent. I always liked it, but I was trying not to get apps for things the phone did well enough natively.

I also use Handcent and have used the scheduler but if you schedule the same text to go to multiple people it works fine but when you add a picture or something the requires it to be a mms instead of sms then the people that receive the text see the names or numbers of everyone else you sent that message to. Is there an app that will not do that?

Take a look at Future Scheduler app for Android, this will not only help you in scheduling text messages but also emails, status update and phone calls.

I also use GoSMS. I switched to Go probably about a year ago. I used Handcent forever, and tried Chomp for a while (bought the full version) but IMO Go was the best. I use the scheduled SMS at least once a week
