I'm still running Fabs NexBeast V1.1 which has been pretty much flawless for me. I've waited for several Froyo releases to mature a little before making the plunge. I've read many of the various posts but it can be a bit daunting sifting through all the opinions. I've decided that tonight I'm going to make the shift to Froyo but am left with the question...which one? I'm leaning towards Jrummy's Kangerade but would like to hear some feedback on which version has proven to be the most stable and bug free...what you say?

I've been running Pete's Beast 0.2.1 since he released it, I tried a few of the ROMs before that. It runs well enough, I'd move to another but I don't really want another ROM that isn't from source, so I'm (not so) patiently waiting for CM 6.0.

I understand this doesn't really answer your question, I'm trying to sway you to wait for a good source ROM by Pete or Koush/Cyanogen. :)

Pete doesn't build off source. I am usually a Bugless Beast fan, but v0.2 has been a bit off par from Pete's usual "buglessness", but nonetheless it does the job. I'm currently running JRummy's Kangerade and its working good. It has its problems, but in my opinion its the best ROM thats currently out. Also, I'm a sucker for 10% battery intervals.

What are the problems you're experiencing with kangorade?

No, that's good info...I wanted to wait but I've pretty much made up my mine to take the plunge. I can reflash later.

I've tried them all, and at the moment I am REALLY liking Sapphire 0.6.0. Like everything else built in less than a day after 2.2 hit AOSP, it still has its quirks. I was absolutely loving the Kangerade too, but my battery was dying in about 2 hours. My battery normally dies quickly anyway due to my usage, but that is about half of the normal battery life for me. I was also having issues with it randomly rebooting.

I was running NexBeast too and tried Onix's source 2.2 yesterday but had terrible luck. I couldn't get any kernels to take and it was VERY laggy...themes didn't seem to work well either.

Rather than messing with it I just went back to BB 0.21 with Fab's NexTheme. It's not source but honestly it's running GREAT. I think I'll even give the source ROMs a couple weeks before I upgraded.

I like SimplyStunning 4.2 the best. It has run better for me than any other ROM I've tried.

+10! I'm staying with Eclair until a real ROM comes out, preferably CyanogenMod 6. I'm sick of these FRF57-based ROMs. Does everyone need to make a ROM based on leaks that are going to keep changing? If you're happy with your Eclair ROM, I advise you to stay with it until CM6, a more refined version of Sapphire, or ROMs based on later Moto builds than FRF57 are released.

    Republic of Texas
I am running Team Chayos w/ Clean Black and Stock Icons. I've tried them all and this one runs the best hands down. No need to add extra kernal included runs pretty snappy with tons of widgets going. Can find it in Rom Manager.

Love Pete's work, but his Froyo was no good for my phone. It was OK and quick, but I couldn't deal with the reboots under load - defeats the purpose.

I am using the Kang source build and it's NICE.
I still have to see about battery - I haven't used it all that much yet to judge. Otherwise it's snappy and stable.

I think several must-tries include, in no particular order:

    Fab's themed NexBeast
    Kangerade
    Sapphire (what I'm using now)

I flashed Sapphire today, and it seems like a really nice ROM so far...aside from the for now normal issue w/FB sync not working (it's not working on any Built-from-Source ROMs) it is very fast, and seems very stable.

Sapphire 0.6.0 is good...but I'm not as smart as Fadelight...can't produce my own transparent notification bar and the stock looking notification bar is so damn fugly IMO...the ROM is pretty nice though.

I'm running Kangerade 1.1 until a souce ROM comes out that fixes the same issues that all of them seem to have (facebook sync, MP4 files playing, etc.)....plus it needs to be themeable for me to use it everyday. But Kangerade has been solid for me and running quite fast. That's the best I have used personally but as with custom ROMs...I'll have a new favorite in a week ;)

Well, with many other previous ROMs, my BatteryLeft widget told me that there are about 19:00 hours on full battery - now it tells me over 31:00!!

"IF" this is at least a little true, then Chevy 1200 LV is doing well in the Kang source ROM.
I shall see as more time passes, but I am hoping battery is good

I am really liking Sapphire 0.6.0, all the other ROMS gave me reboot issues (non-Source). It runs great, excellent battery life, and only problem I have is the FB sync issue, which I don't care much about.

Getting ready to try Pl3x 2.1.1 though since it has a few extra features not included in Sapphire yet.

I'm currently using Succulent Desire, and to this point it's been the smoothest Froyo yet. However, I've been away from the forums for a couple days and I see a lot of you mentioning Sapphire, which I've never heard of, and I see Pete's put out a new BBeast. So, a-flashing we will go, a-flashing we will go...

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I made the jump to Kangerade last night and so far so good. Everthing seems to be working and I haven't found any bugs yet. Wouldn't you know that 15 minutes after loading this ROM Pete comes out with a new one! So far I'm happy but I'll give it a good work out today and see what happens.

Well, I'm sad to report that Kangorade was a bust on my Droid. It seemed to run fairly well at first albeit a little laggy but it started crashing to a reboot every so often. A few FC's here and there added to the mess. So I Nandroided back to my 2.1 Nexbeast and everything is good again. I just downloaded Pete's new Froyo ROM so I may give it a shot tonight at work if I have the time, I really like the new features in Froyo.

I would almost bet that you didn't wipe data/cache AND format your boot, system, data, and cache partitions. Right? :)

Every time someone mentions these kind of issues, they usually have not. The only way to ensure a good installation is to perform the wipe/format as mentioned.

It makes switching ROMs take a little more time...but it ensures that you only have to do it once. I was trying to flash the Sapphire 0.6.2 last night and I decided to try and restore my data partition from a Sapphire 0.6.0 nandroid backup I had. After screwing with it for about 2 hours...I gave up and flashed it the "right" way. 1 hour and I was good to go. I'm all for saving time...but with these ROMs, I don't recommend cutting corners ;)

I use Chevy's Simply Stunning 4.2 with his ulv 1.2 kernel. I must say I think it's the best, but I've always had really good experiences with his stuff.

I have yet to get this to load beyond the boot animation. I've tried several different kernals. I wonder if me selecting the mototorch add-on is causing an issue. have to test that out.

Actually wiped everything 3 times. It ran fine for about 10-12 hrs then deteriorated quickly...no idea why. I'm going to give the new BB a try and see what happens.

I don't have the mototorch on my phone. Also make sure you wipe data and cache. Also keep in mind that all ROMs and kernels work differently from phone to phone.

You sure it wasn't the kernel? Pete does tend to include kernels that don't work well with my phone. I find that flashing P3Droid's kernel over whatever I have at the moment always fixes any reboot under load issues; P3Droid's kernels are by far the most stable for me.
