Not bad for an American, Mike. At least he got the correct hemisphere. ;)

We got about 5" of the white stuff yesterday.

It was clear and 9°F (-13°C) this morning. The real cold stuff won't move in until this afternoon. Then we get -4°F with wind chills to -27° (-20°C/-33°C) Still warmer than Chicago, though.

Is that a super-cooled vortex of arctic air? Should we be worried?

But wait, here in the UK we can almost match that

This is the dreaded Polar® Vortex™ (©2019 The Weather Channel, all rights reserved. Unauthorized hyperbole prohibited.)

It's supposed to last for almost 2 DAYS! Good thing I have 17 dozen eggs, 56 loaves of bread and 146 gallons of milk.

When I work outside in the bitter cold, I wear a ski mask Bobby. Luckily, I do not have to work outside much in the winter. I have seen the time that the mask would form ice below the nose cutout. I feel sorry for the guys that work outside all winter long.

Warm right now, rain has ended. That's all normal for February in the great Northeast, right? High wind advisory and a drop in temperatures is scheduled for later today, Yep, the roller coaster is in full swing!

I awoke to 6° F this morning but it warmed into the mid twenties. It warmed enough that most all of the ice is off the roads.

Iced in today. I tried to go to work but turned around and went back home after nearly being hit by one of the many cars doing circles on the road. 21.6° right now. :(

I'm very happy that we've had rain--lots and lots of glorious rain--that's finally put a punctuation mark on the end of our drought. It was officially declared over in 2017, yet some places--like Arcadia where I live--continued mandatory watering restrictions.

The recent rain--which has added some 600 billion gallons of water to our reservoirs--combined with extremely heavy snowfall in our mountains, has pretty much done it. :D

Down here in the beautiful San Gabriel Valley, it's sunny and 60-ish today--with more rain in the forecast. :)
