Root What's what as far as boot animations?

Just a quick question since I am thoroughly confused about boot animations: what are the different elements to the boot animations? I see different splashes/logos/animations etc. but I'm not sure which one it is that I'm changing.

So could someone spell it out for me using my current setup: (fill in the blank)

1.) Still blue aperture logo - __________

3.) Aperture laboratories flashing - ____________

1.) Still blue aperture logo - splash.img (easily editable, my specialty)

T Y - boot.img. (uneditable without decompiling, difficult)

3.) Aperture laboratories flashing - bootanimation.zip (easily editable)
