Are these two apps worth having? I've just downloaded and installed WhatsApp on my Desire and it seems ok in principle. I've just fired off a few messages, so it will be interesting to see if any of them deliver and if I get any replies.

Which is better? How do they affect battery life?

I use both, as some of my friends use Ping, and some use Whatsapp. I prefer the layout of Whatsapp to Ping's.

Maybe I haven't figured it out yet, but Whatsapp was able to tell me on installation which of my contacts use it, and automatically set them up as Whatsapp contacts. For Ping, I have to add people manually, by searching for their phone numbers or user names.

I'm not sure about battery life, someone else might be able to chime in on that.
