Is there whatsapp for Android phones? Just bought a HTC Wildfire for my wife.
Its in beta at the mo, if you email them you can gain access
^^ where do you email them for it as i want to be in on this lol... pingchat fails
you need to tell them your phone number and what version of android you are running.
http://beta.whatsapp.com/android/release/WhatsApp.apk for the software although cant be run until you are authorised as a user.
^^ have you got it working on yours?
i jus emailed them is there along wait for a reply?
Yeah had it running about 4 days, they replied withing 24 hours to me.
ok emailed them, got the apk installed on phone but cant get past entering a name lol
hope i get this working lol all the blackberry and iphone friends will be free mms ing
Hey Broads desire,
You need to enter a phone number instead of a name... so your own phone number.
It connects trought phone numbers aswell, so if you wanna add someone you need his phone number... no nickname or e-mail orso... Hope it works for ya... did for me...
I downloaded it for my 2.1 htc desire, it says it's not compatible with my task manager
Can someone please help
yeah i entered my number and it sent myself a text... then asked for a username which would be used by iphone users... so put in my screen name...
authorization failed etc..
ok well its working now... licensed till nov 22nd ? that mean it will just stop after that ?
if you get a failed authorisation leave it a day and try again, worked for me on 2.2 desire and no email sent. really great app but only for text chat on android it seems, doesn't seem to rinse the battery too hard either which is a bonus
I tried to install the APK on my X10, and it said it could not be installed.
Anyone know if it requires 2.1+? I emailed them yesterday but have yet to get any response regarding my registration with the beta.
Is the chat across platforms? I used to have a ton of contacts on there when I had my 3gs.
Well I just emailed them and they emailed me right back and said they arent taking anyone else for beta.
I emailed them last week and they never got back to me...at all. So who knows
Well I installed it tonight and it works well but it's disappointing to see it will be a paid service despite the cost ($1.99/yr)
Other platforms have had it free for some time and it just won't work as well as a paid app. I'd rather just pay an upfront cost.
There are too many alternatives for one of them to try and push through as a paid service therefore diluting the userbase futher.
what if i want to change my number...like goin to a diff country... do i need to email them again with my other number am using???
