Root When you say "rooting" what exactly does that mean in Layman's terms?

Hi I'm still new here & still figuring out the Moment. I read how much better it is when you "root" the phone. IDK what in the world that means & if a root is done, does that mess with your warranty?? Thank you for help for us slow ones!! :p

^yes^ what you are doing is talking control of EVERY part of your phone, not just the UI and foreground stuff.

when you root it you can change out the kernals, which are like drivers for devices on your pc, to make it faster, you can get rid of the sprint apps if you dont like them AND change to other ROM's that other people have put a different perspective on.

it Technically does void your warranty BUT if you just put the regular sprint rom back onto it before you bring it to a store then they will never know and you warranty is still good, basically as long as you don't say HEY i rooted my phone :p and then show them all the rooted stuff that's on there then your g2g
