As Google Maps 7 is awful, I want to downgrade to version 6. What is the latest version? I have seen v6.14.3 mentioned.

Where can I download the APK of this? My phone is rooted so I think I can unlink it so it doesn't update in the market.

Unlink doesn't work, if you mean Titanium - was broken back when Market became Play and still is. Turn off automatic updates and you'll be ok though.

Oh that's a shame. I will inevitably update it by mistake. Uninstalling it in the market puts me back to v6.14.2. I think I lose my settings too.

I can't find a reputable source for Google Maps v6.14.4.

I'm amazed at how bad Maps v7 is. I liked the zoom buttons, the labs, even the UI was better.

I've complained about 7 on Google's map blog, hopefully they will revert the UI. V6 was bad enough with three different search icons wasting space then 7 went even more iphone like.

As has been said, you don't lose settings. And was there anything remotely significant in some final point release that you will even notice over 6.14.2? If that's what uninstalling updates gives you (i.e. that's the version in your ROM) I'd not worry about finding a newer one.

I did lose things like what labs features I had enabled. Nothing at all major. This was with Maps 7 installed for a couple of days and being run a couple of times; perhaps an immediate re-downgrade is cleaner.
