    Hey guys!

So I manually updated my phone from 2.0 to 2.1 and was a painless process thanks to you guys :D I saved it to my SD card then deleted that file later.

I have a quick question though. My phone is having problems. If I get a new droid but use my same SD card in it, will my 2.1 already be initiated into the new phone, or would i have to OTA the 2.1 on the new phone?

Basically, if I stick my SD card (where I moved the 2.1 file to so that I could manually update my OS to 2.1) in a 2.0 phone, will it make that phone go to 2.1?

    Thanks!

No, you need to re install the update. If you deleted it from your sd card then you need to put it back on. The OS is installed on the nand memory of the phone.

If the device that you receive doesn't already have 2.1 installed, I'm more than willing to bet that right when you boot it up for the first time there will be a notification waiting asking you to download and install the ESE81 (2.1) update. Applying it manually shouldn't be necessary.

Right.. it's the phone's internal memory.
