New to ANdroid, formerly a Pre owner, and use to downloading "patches" via preware....My evo is rooted (thats what the seller told me), so where do I go to find tweaks to enhance my EVO?

I take it that modding an Android phone is not as easy as the Palm Pre on webOS....I'm lovin my EVO but with the pre, once rooted, just install preware, and download self installing "patches" (mods), so if I'm understanding ROMS, you could easily screw your phone up installing these?

I'm also wondering if there are mods or roms to enhance the phone for different functions, such as the Pre.

no roms are so much cooler than anything you saw on the pre. the pre was limited. the evo is unlimited in possibilities now

ok, elaborate more on your statement...did you have a Pre? the Pre as mentioned was easy, once rooted and using Preware, you just selected a patch and that was it, no hard work to install, im just wondering:

    1) where do you find these for Android? Does Android have something similar to Preware?

    2) How involved is the installations of these for Android.

In comparison, the Pre had patches for example that would group together calls from the same number in a day, had a patch for tweaking the dialer, for example when a call came in it would say the state it was from right below the number.....there were patches to enchance individual features of the phone, you could install and delete these individual patches.

Is there such a thing for Android?

There's an application called ROM Manager that makes updating custom roms easy. You'll need to root first, but now that I have a custom rom, it alerts me when Fresh rom updates and it'll download and install it for me.

Yup, I got it, rooted last night using the tutorial, have the rom manager app, but all you see on there is the 5 or 6 roms, what do you see if you pay the $4 for the paid version?
