I want to put ringtones on my phone but I am not sure where to put them. On my SD card I made a directory media/audio/ringtones.
When I tried to set a custom ringtone for a contact it didn't list the ones I put on the card. I also tried (With Astro) to place them in the same directory on the phones storage and it wouldn't let me paste to the directory. Are all ringers and notification sounds in mp3 format?

    Thanks.

I believe it should only be ringtones/name of file.mp3 no media folder.

Oh you can always get a third party app and use it to load and clip the mp3 file.

Download Ringdroid. It'll help set the files that are on your microSD card as ringtones

just ringtones, directly on your sd card.. and you cannot capitalize it i believe. Has to be all lower case.

Mine is ALL caps. Make a folder named "RINGTONES" on your sd card then drag and drop any of your .mp3s to the folder. Then they will show up under your ringtone on the phone.

Here's what I did. I'm using Astro for file manager.
    1. select SD card folder.
    2. Select download folder.
    3. Press and hold on the mp3 file that I want to add to ringtone.
    4. Select Music Options.
    5. Select Set as Ringtone
