Hello! I was once a happy android user....i had the droid 1 when it first came out but i lost my job so i had to get rid of it.....

Well i want to get a new android device - but i want to buy it UNLOCKED from www.amazon.com ........ i been browsing there for a while but i cant figure out what i want to get.......most of the devices in my price range are like ANDROID OS 1.5 - so i dont know if it will be bad to get something outdated......MY maximum budget i say would be $300......I been looking at the Samsung Spica or the Lg OPtimus......if yall can recomend anythingelse please do! i dont really need all the advanced features - just want touch screen, internet, wifi, QUAD BAND (A must cause i move alot between countries ).......and yeah....

btw i got a unlocked blackberry storm before - and i couldnt get the data to work....so if i get a unlocked android does that mean the data wont autoconfigure with my sim card like t-mobile or Docomo in india? i guess it doesnt matter cause i will have wifi :S .......

So what do yall recommend for me? i need a unlocked device cuz im leaving for india in a few months!

    thanks!

btw 300 is the MOST id be willing to spend...id like to get something for 200 or so!

willing to spend more to get teh motorola milestone -(euro version of the droid...)...its good?

I had an unlocked storm and it worked fine on tmobile...only thing was I had to go in and set it up to work on my own. If all you need is touch screen, quadband, internet and, wifi the 1.5 devices will all work fine. If you want unlocked why not look into a nexus one? it's older so it should be cheaper, it's googls phone; meaning it's not locked to a carrier, and I hear most updates to other android versions are easily availaible.

    1) what would u say is the most feared and respected android out atm?
I been rockin prepaid androids, but looking to get a good one.

got my eye on the DROID BIONIC, the verizon salesman said its the best phone out right now. but damn even with contract its 300 :S

    2) how do you guys usualy rock ur plans? also, do you guys get insurance?

i usualy get the 450 mins for 40 bucks, and the 15$ data plan, and thats it.

but im thinking of getting the insurance for 8 dollars, because if my phone breaks im SCRWED...

I would hold off. We're about to see a big new group of powerhouses hit the market shortly.

For VZW, it'll be the HTC Rezound, Droid Razr, and Galaxy Nexus.

The Droid Razr is made of kevlar and has a steel core(a bit like wolverine). I doubt other phones would want to get into a bar fight with it.

I fear moto phones with their locked up bootloader, nexus phones can have my respect as well as those that are root and rom friendly just because I know the OEM isn't screwing over the customer

Galaxy S II, it's still the fastest Android phone.

The Galaxy Nexus is decent, but lack of storage is an issue also gaming probably will be as well, they expect an overclocked SGX540 to handle 1280*720, doesnt make allot of sense but not an issue if you don't game.

Theres a good reason allot of reviewers compare the Galaxy S II to the iPhone 4S, it's the best Android currently has to offer.

i planed to get a t-mobile nexus s, but they dont have it anymore it seems at any stores near me.

i really want a nexus s so my options now seem to be

    Sprint and ATT.

i hate ATT because i had them before and it was 2 years of hell. (also ATT gets like 1 bar in my area.)

Sprint is good, but its CDMA and i want a GSM phone.

i was thinking of going with the G2x. so what would yall say? go with the g2x on t-mobile? or get the nexus S on ATT?

Get yourself a T-Mo Nexus S from E-Bay or Craigslist. With the prime coming out, lots of people are selling theirs (you could also check this forum's selling area)

You should be able to get one for about 250-300

Just so you know the Nexus S was never sold at T-Mobile stores, there is actually a deal going on right now where you can buy it for $300 off contract.

I've used Wirefly and have been happy, but you have more terms you have to agree to. When you order from Wirefly you are agreeing that you will keep that phone activated for at least 180 days, meaning if you decide to switch to another phone (even if you've paid full price for it, got it from a friend, etc.), they charge you $300 for breaking their terms. Not to mention you have to wait for everything to be shipped, etc. They have a presence on this forum which is nice, and the people they have on here are extremely helpful. I can't say the same for phone support though, as I always have a hard time understanding them, not to mention they talk too much (I understand you are having trouble, is that correct? Okay sure and I just want to remind you that blah blah blah, it goes on forever).
