That was the one recommended to me. Now I realize there are 4 different versions.

    Which one should I use?

    Kernels are always tricky YRMV

When I am using a Sense Rom i normally run More Freedom It just works better for me. However there is a newer kernel out Anthrax that most seem to like so maybe that would be a better option to try.

    direct download for Anthrax

Those kernels are for the Evo 3D. The Anthrax kernel for our phone is no longer available. Don't know the exact reason why. I heard a couple of stories.

Kernels very from phone to phone, as argedion said. I would try each one and see what works best. But let each kernel settle for a couple days before you make a judgement on whether the kernel is right for you.

Apparently there's more like 12. Can anyone explain the differences between them?

Thanks for the info I was unaware of this. I use Xplod with Tiamat 3.3.7 and honestly its the best combo I have had for my phone. I get way better battery life than I did with anything else. I don't use Sense much just think its way to heavy. I have had a few that were fairly light but still battery life is not near as good as it is with AOSP for me.

I love AOSP but for some reason my phone doesn't "like" it. It was mad glitchy.

Twelve? Where did you see this? As far as I know there's four.

EDIT: The kernels offer differences as far as undervolting. It's hard for me to describe, so I will leave it to someone with a better gift of gab with these things. :)

Doesn't MikG 3.0 use the Freedom kernel anyway?

No worries my man, aamikam always uses the stock kernel. :)
I think this is the best way to release a rom because every phone reacts differently to custom roms. That way every phone will work out the box and once youre booted you can add your preferred kernel.

The anthrax kernel was available for the 4G for a while, and some of us snapped it up. PM me if you want a copy.

I'm running Mik3.0 with Agressive Freedom kernel.. It's super super super snappy and allows a heavy overclock, but the battery life isn't great. I would suggest starting at one end of the spectrum and work your way to the middle. I'm either gonna reflash and use the baked in kernel, or flash a less agressince Freedom kernel.

There actually are 12 kernels available in the freedom line. The 4 types are a range of undervolting. You should use the kernel with the most undervolting that your phone can handle. How do you know if it can handle it? Start with agressive and if the phone starts bootlooping randomly or is sluggish your phone doesnt like it and try the next one up the list.

    Freedom Stock- No undervolting
    Freedom less-
    Freedom More
    Freedom Agressive -175

Now, theres 3 different subtypes of kernel within each one. Synergy, Universal, nightlies (i believe)

Anyway, you pick this based on the ROM type your using. If your not sure if your ROM is a synergy or nightly one, flash UNIVERSAL.

I know mikg isn't a nightly so does that mean it is a synergy by default?

    No, UNIVERSAL is the default.

Synergy is for the Synergy ROMS and the nightlies are for the synergy nightlies i believe.

Either way, you'll be using Universal 99% of the time.

And seeing that Synergy isn't really being developed anymore, universal will work with all sense gb Roms

That'll do it. You want universal.
