Hi guys, im a beginner and i just decided to download the development kit. My internet connection is painfully slow and the rates are quite high. So i cant download all the packages recommended by SDK manager. I want to download the packages required for basic development and keep the bandwidth usage to the minimum. My questions are 1.If i were to download only one platform version, which version would you recommend? 2.What are the disadvantages of not downloading all the versions? 3.According to stats 2.3.3 is the most used version, but this version comes with sub packages such as MotorolPro+, Photon, Bionic, Real3d etc. Are these sub packages necessary for development? Thank you

I would download 2.3 first. Most phones run that or above now. Anything above that just adds new features that you might not be able to take advantage of.

Those additional packages are optional, and depend largely on what handset your developing for. They're more for building Roms than apps. Welcome again to our little corner of the internet!
