I am rooted running 2.3 and love Sense. I was looking at the Sprint Lovers Rom but I see its no longer being supported.

What ROM is closest to Stock with Sense? Also, does the ROM need a separate Radio or Kernel install? (not sure how to do the radio or kernel).

    Thanks for the Help!

Try out mikg 2.1+3.0 and see if you like it. It isn't stock as far as having a bunch of bloat and sprint programs, but it is complete with everything working, and it has most of the new sense 3.0 on it. It's an amazing rom. I can't pimp it enough...

And if you're running 2.3 you shouldn't have to upgrade anything to run it.

Thanks ovrrdrive, Let me ask you this, will I have to flash anything (radio, kernel) after I install the ROM ?

Also, is ROM Manager the easier way to flash a ROM?

you do not necessarily need to flash the new radios if you do not want. some say that the new radios give you better battery life though. i flashed them and it is about the same. so up to you.

as far as rom manager goes, do not use it. it tends to be buggy and does not really wipe very well which can lead to issues flashing your rom. i would do everything manually. if you have questions on your recovery please feel free to ask.

Which kernel would you recommend using with this ROM?

I've flashed different ROM and kernel combinations, but I haven't had every app and function working as when the phone was unrooted.

What about the rooted version of the OTA update? Or are you already running that?

There currently are no custom kernels for the 2.3 release. You can flash some of the Netarchy kernels but you will break a couple of things by doing it. Once the source code is released for the new kernel, the devs will start working on new ones for us to use.

MikG has things that our Evo's will not likely ever get in an official update. Everything in that rom does work though so you should not be disappointed.

well the only way to become not a noob is to ask questions, so ask away. that is why this forum is awesome!

so there mainly two types of roms. ther is sense roms and there are non-sense roms called aosp(android open source project). each rom requires a kernel. unfortunately, most custom kernels are specific to the type of rom it was created for. tiamat kernels are aosp kernels and are meant for aosp roms. netarchy toastmod kernels are sense but there are a few netarchy kernels that are universal and supposedly works on both types of roms.

unfortunately, all the new roms coming out that are based off of the 4.22 ota can only use the stock kernel. until htc releases the code for the stock kernel, we will have to wait.

so i would not really try any custom kernels with these latest roms that are coming out until the devs comes out with a new kernel.

so far i just toggle 3g and that seems to help for me.
