How do you know what Radio version you have?. Is it the baseband version quoted under about phone, software. If it is then the current gingerbread one is the one they recommend for Leedroid anyway.

The other thing that I'm confused about is the kernel. Is this attached to the ROM when it's installed or do you have to install seperate.

Since I upgraded back to gingerbread I seem to have the WiFi issue, it's ok at home but having problems at work. I take it these issues are fixed in custom ROMs.

Thanks for all the help & links so far, been a great help

Yes, that's where I downloaded mine from. There seems to be several links for addons and kernels etc but I just got the ROM for now.

I was very nervous, actually shaking, when I downgraded mine. But the only time I thought I'd messed up was when I re-tried visionary after upgrading back to GB and just got a black screen. I had to pull the battery out to re-start it.:p

Yeah, it's the baseband number in the settings. And yeah the rom comes with a kernel.

    Well, here goes nothing.

If it goes wrong, ANYONE who's posted in this thread is fair game for having the finger of blame pointed at them. :p

I'm actually gonna have to wait till tomorrow, I didn't realise it was this late and I need to pick up a little monkey from nursery.

Also, something that just came to mind. I don't know if you need a goldcard but:

This tool will automatically make a goldcard for you. It's not able to detect the MMC2 value for our phone, you still need to get that fromt he goldcard tool linked to via XDA, but it should do the rest.

I used the goldcard tool (per Xyro's link) to make the goldcard, but got my MMC2 number (already reversed) from the goldcard helper (https://market.android.com/details?...enther.android.goldcard&feature=search_result) from the market.

    Hope that helps! :)

I'm running 2.36.405.8 so I don't need a gold card, but cheers anyway.

Does it matter if fastboot is on or off when you reboot during the downgrade? Seems a silly question....

I don't think so. When you run the RUU, it will turn the phone off properly reguardless.

I'm oh so tempted to do this. Been having problems with my mobile internet since Gingerbread. Admittedly, this could probably be fixed without changing ROM, but I've been itching to do it anyway.

Lol... go for it! You can always go back/change to a different rom if you don't like it:D

Woohoo - successfully downgraded. Now to do the other stuff.

Edit: I've now permarooted with Visionary and done the radio S-OFF from the link above. Don't think I'll bother with ENG S-OFF for now. I've also installed ROM Manager, but I'll leave the ROM flashing for another day.

Having rooted on Sunday, I went ahead and installed LeeDroid today.

So far so good, I've finished setting everything back to how I had it before using launcher pro. And so far it looks exactly the same as GB. Need a bit of time to play and see how it goes.

How do you install some of the add ons, like sence 3 lockscreen. I downloaded the zip from xda. Do I just unzip to the apk files, put on SD card and install.

Did you see that screen? How long did it take?

What he said. These instructions worked perfect for me. A lot of the lines that appeared in the cmd box were a bit concerning to a noob like me, but all worked without a hitch. BTW - the link above for radio S-OFF includes the steps necessary to achieve perm root with visionary.

Some of the guys at XDA thought I could've entered the code incorrectly, then they thought I may be branded. This is their current train of thought -

I'll give it another whirl when the Mrs goes to work tonight.

Just to confirm, which firmware were you downgrading from? 2.3.3 or 2.2.1?

I was downgrading from the recent Gingerbread OTA update, so I guess that makes it 2.3.3. Wish I knew more about this so I could offer some help

Don't worry about it, I appreciate the post. I was just trying to work out if what was said about HTC releasing a hot OTA was feasible, but if you're running the same build as me, that rules it out I suppose.
