If you used jkoljo's tool to go Radio S-Off SuperCID and SimUnlock then Radio S-OFF is permanent unless you revert again using said tool.

Glad to see you're rooted and using the phenomenal LeeDROID there El P, I highly recommend getting the radio for Lees ROM my battery life is considerably better than without it. Did you also run the EXT4 patches? I recommend those too. Only thing I don't run from Lee's XDA thread is the KINGDOM Sense 3 stuff and the A2SD+.

I didn't do any of the extras, as it was my first time, I just wanted to flash the ROM first, nothing fancy.

If I want to add any extras, do I need to go into CWM and just apply the zip files? Or do I need to wipe, install extras, then the updated ROM?

Make a backup of all your user apps with Titanium Backup (I recommend purchasing the pro key as restoring each one without is done one by one rather than in batch with TB agreeing installation for you. Once done go into CWM and nandroid backup, factory reset then apply both EXT4 patches from Lee's XDA thread. Apply ROM and KERNEL again and then do a boot and make sure everythings sweet restore your apps and sync accounts and contacts etc again. If all is okay and you haven't done already apply the radio, if you haven't done already. If you want I can attach the radio tool I used which takes you step by step through the process and does all the fastboot commands for you in command prompt?

I'll give it a few days first before I try anything else. I've got a lot on and and as tempting as it is, I don't really have time to be messing about with things like this.

I'll see how I fare with the current Radio, but If you could, that'd be grand

Here it is El P:http://www.polluxgray.com/hostedfiles/QuickRadioInstall.zip Unpack the zip somewhere on your computer and just replace the radio.img file with the one you download from Lees thread then launch quickradioinstall.cmd and follow the instructions in the cmd line box.

Oh and to use this you will need ENG HBOOT S-OFF as it makes use of Fastboot commands which without it you don't have access to.

2nd time lucky! Did it via CWM instead of ROM Manager and it worked a treat. Thanks all. Now just have to learn what it can do.

    Excellent :D

    Glad you got it sorted.

I'm flashing the newest version when I've put the wee man to bed. I've noticed the message notification bug that was present in the official 1.72.405.3 OTA update so I'm seeing if 3.1.2 solves the issue.

I used this tool but only chose the S-OFF option, should I have done the superCID and simunlock as well

Simunlock is defo worth it... if you came to sell the phone on at some point, it would then be unlocked (if it was already locked to a particular network).

I did supercid... don't think it matters too much... can always go back using the tool if you want!

    Thanks D-U-R-X.
I didn't both with simunlock cos my DHD is unlocked anyway, and I don't know what supercid is & didn't want to risk doing anything reckless. And then I go ahead and ENG S-OFF for the hell of it.

When I downgraded and rooted, I had to create a goldcard first, as my DHD was Orange UK branded... I was having issues rooting (as I hadn't realised that I needed to have a goldcard... I was getting errors about CID fail, (CID is Carrier ID) as I was trying to downgrade to unbranded firmware and the Carrier ID on my phone was for Orange.

I don't think it should matter if you haven't done supercid... think on of the other options was that the CID was something like HTC-1 which I guess is like having an unbranded phone direct from HTC. I think that SuperCID is pretty much the same thing!

    lol

Have spent the last week or so trying out the various ROMs that are out there.. my experiences:

Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 - My personal favourite. no sign of Sense and lots of bugfixes. really lacking in terms of Camera app quality, but really like the Gallery. No WiFi problems. I really like it coupled with lcd_density set at 180 as you get a bit more real estate to work with:

Leedroid 3.1.x - really nice if you don't want to lose Sense altogether, and with the Sense 3.0 addon it's even better. Loads of bugfixes here as well. No WiFi problems. Personally, I just preferred the look and feel of CM7 but I've kept a backup of Leedroid 'just in case'.

MIUI 1.6.3 - What the ****? iPhone for Android users, basically. Hate the locked down feel to it, and can't imagine why anyone with the knowledge to root their phone would go for it. Why can't I have 5 copies of the same application shortcut if I want? Having said you can tell the interface has been worked on incredibly hard, but broke when changing lcd density. WiFi still drops out when signal drops to 1 bar.

Nice one Dijon... glad that someone who's tried a couple of ROM's has put their thoughts on them down... I'm on CM7 (for now) and wanna try LeeDroid and Android Revolution HD... think I'll give LeeDroid a go next though! :)

Thanks  Just as a bit if information to go with my above post- you can install the MIUI camera app on CM7 which gives you back widescreen picture options. Unfortunately its a bit buggy, but gives me a viable option while I wait for the CM app to be improved.

Might be worth a bit of a go... I had noticed that the CM7 camera wasn't great... but I guess that's what my SLR's for ;)

I actually don't have any other camera over 3MP, so the phone is miles better :)

Yeah I have both the normal and MIUI cameras on CM7 and the MIUI one is definitely the nicer of the two.

How do you take the camera from one ROM and add it to another?

Is it just a simple case of grabbing the relevant .apk from the zip file and adding it to the zip file of the ROM you want to use?

In this case yes, somebody has provided an apk of the MIUI camera to install as a normal app. However, I don't believe just taking the .apk from one rom would work, no doubt it's more complicated than that.

Thought it would be, wishful thinking on my part.

Is the app with CM7 really bad?

The picture quality is fine, you just don't get the option to take widescreen photos. It does allow you to use the volume or search buttons to take the photos which is very handy.

Sadly I have just restored my stock Sense 2.3.3 ROM as CM7, as much as I tried to give it a fair go, was just so buggy, constant crashes and really really bad Wi-Fi to mention some things. Unfortunately the Sense doesn't look as sleek as CM7 but it functions as it is meant to. I also tried LeeDroid with similar results. I appreciate that these ROMS are unique and have extra features that are not found in the stock ROMS but they are sooo buggy and not worth the frustration imo.
