    Hi Folks,
I[ve received a HTC Wildfire S for Chrissy, and it has 512mb supplied, but I wish to put in extra memory in it, and Im wondering whether there is a special type of sdcard I need or does any type of sd card do? I was hoping to get an 8gb which should do me for music and pics, as I don't bother with games as such. Can anyone help me please and guide me the right way. I might add that if its the any type of card then I should be able to get one reasonably priced on ebay. Here's hoping
    Cheers,

    John

You need a micro-SD card. It's not absolutely necessary, but it may be good to spend a couple extra bucks and get one that has the SD card adapter. It's basically an SD card that allows you to put the micro-SD card inside it so it can be read on a card reader. You may not have a use for it, but if you do it would be something to be on the lookout for.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, John! :)

Don't sell yourself short with an sd card. You not only have to be concerned with size, but the class (speed). If you intend on using the card for video, a class 6 card is the minimum recommended spec. Considering you can get an 8 GB Class 6 MicroSD card for $11.00, it's not a huge investment.

Many thanks lunatic. That's what I'll go for. I do have reading ability on my lappy so the adaptor will come in handy. I must admit I've never used the card reader at all before I will in future; it should make it easier for downloading all the millions of piccies and videos Im going to produce lol;)
    Cheers,
    John

Just to point out there are a lot of fake cards out there particularly on ebay so check out the supplier and avoid China. a lot of people have been stung. Also you will use up 8gb quicker than you realise so you might want to consider a larger size ...class and speed allowing

Amazon is a good vendor tho - you won't get burned with them, hence lunatic's link to a known vendor.

Exactly. And if you should get a questionable product, with Amazon, you have real recourse, not just an ineffectual seller rating and nasty comment.

I got a Sandisk 8GB, taking a typical ebay long shot, and it’s been great.

I'd just go to a local electronics store, like Best Buy or Radioshack and get one. Why pay for shipping on something that weighs less than 1 gram?
