I usually buy all of my accessories at VZ. However I am on a tight budget and I need to buy a holster, seidio 1750 battery and a car charger. Anyone have any suggestions on which car charger to get for the incredible? I have never purchased one from anywhere but VZ. Is there really a difference in purchasing from VZ and an online retailer? Thanks

Theres some cheap ones on ebay and amazon. Amazon also has cheaper prices on seidio cases than seidioonline.com

I bought a car charger, on Amazon, for $1.99 (plus a few bucks shipping). I also got one of those things that suction cups to the windshield and holds your DI (less than $8) and a leather holder (goes through beltloop or clips on) for $7.99. :)

So basically there is no difference in buying a vehicle charger at VZ for $30 and buying one on Amazon for a few bucks other than the fact that you pay $25 more at VZ? Just wondering if these non-verizon chargers are of equal performance and will not harm the phone. THanks again!!!

I got mine on eBay for 2 bucks. There is no difference. I have used eBay for car chargers for years and never had a problem.

I got a dual usb car charger for 10 bucks on amazon. Then use your cable that came with the phone to charge it.

Bought Blackberry micro USB chargers on Amazon for about $5 each, one for car and one for the house. I keep the original at the office.

If you need multiple accessories, see if Verizon store will do a "3 for $30".
I got the silicone case, screen protectors and a car charger for $30.
Priced individually, the car charger was $29 (ripoff).

^ This is the set up i have. Works great and it's universal. I am skeptical of fly by night amazon and ebay sellers but this place is reputable and ships through the post office for cheap. I have bought all my home theater cables from them. They sell quality stuff and usually cheaper than anyone else when shipped.

Monoprice is an evil, evil website. Every time I go there for something (say, a car USB adapter, lol) I end up putting a bunch of crap I don't need into my shopping cart. I'm like, "Oh, it's only $3, I'll just get 4." Next thing I know I have 4 optical cables, 4 digital coax cables, 3 HDMI cables (they're just so cheap!), USB cables, a microphone, other random crap...and I'm up to $80 or something.

    They're just evil I say. :)

but I went to the website for a $5-10 purchase! What the hell am I doing?!

It's almost as bad as when I go to Target, or Fry's. I ALWAYS find something to buy at those places and it just kills me. :p

Sorry this could be a stupid question. I'm waiting for the phone to ship to me. Does the blackberry tour and incredible have the same charging slot?

I also went the monoprice route; got the car adapter, an extra wall adapter, and two usb cables for $7.99 shipped (VZW store wanted $65 for two extra chargers).

Got the stuff from monoprice on Friday, and it works great.

Keep in mind that the phone actually does the charging (the "chargers" just provide the juice.) all chargers (cheap and fancy) have different specs.

As long as they are rated over 4V (voltage of the Inc Battery) they will work and (almost?) all micro usb ones will be.

The "big" difference is how much juice they CAN pull (how fast they will charge the phone.)

Stock HTC chargers are rated at 1A (1000mA). A lot of usb/car chargers are in the 500-700mA range. They will work (all of my BB stuff does just fine) but it is a slower charge.

There are also a bunch of reports of the Inc being finicky with usb chargers (both mobile and wall). I have had freezing issues with a couple different usb car chargers, others have been hit or miss with usb wall chargers.)

One of the nice things is that so many devices have jumped on the micro usb bandwagon, so there is a much higher chance of forward compatibility for the chargers you invest in for this phone.

Spending $12 (like I did today) for a quality 1A car charger is a good investment IMHO. Spending $30 for a VZW wall charger, not so much. Buying the $2 monoprice pieces, low risk and "if" they work you are good.

I always spend a bit more cash of car chargers due to the abuse they take. Wall chargers often are plugged into the same outlet for their whole life and don't get the wear travel chargers do. The dual travel chargers are nice, too (I have a couple BB ones always packed).

The inc will, obviously, also charge just fine (if a bit slowly) when plugged into any usb port you may have handy. I "think" usb ports will provide 500mA to attached devices, so plan on roughly twice the time to achieve the same charge as a 1000mA wall/car charger.

    +5 for monoprice. T

The USB adapter and cables. Get a couple extra cables for $1.20 and you can charge your phone on your work computer too. Plus the 12v USB adapter can charge/run mp3 players, PSP etc...

Monoprice charger and cables here as well. I bought two chargers just in case one died on me or was DOA.

Ive had several phones in the past that have used micro-usb ports so i have numerous chargers, didnt have to buy any extras, microusb is microusb, no voltage change no matter what you plug it into.
