Hi all, wondering if anyone can help. Ive only had my desire a couple of days and for some reason a white line has appeared across the screen, wondering if its been damaged. It hasnt been dropped or abused in anyway so quite confused. Tried a hard reset but to no avail? Pic attached if anyone can figure out otherwise back to the shop it goes!

yeah, hardware issue most likely. if you've only had it a couple of days, push for an exchange rather than a repair.

Is it only visible with the screen on?

If yes, then warranty/replace. If no, then it indicates damage (cracked screen - thus not covered by warranty), and a good reason to be very careful keeping it in trouser pockets.

Can you feel it on screen ,with your nail ,a crack in the glass would be quite obvious to the touch

no there isnt a crack on the glass, certainly cant feel anything and it is only visible when the unit is on. I'll send it back for sure, thanks all the advice! :)

Just because a screen is cracked, does not necessarily mean it's not covered by the warranty. A screen can still crack due to a manufacturing defect which is what warranties are all about, defects.

If you have a cracked screen & there is no obvious external damage, like a dent in the case from where it impacted the ground, then they are supposed to at least have a qualified technician pull the phone apart and examine it to determine the cause.

Especially if the screen cracks shortly after purchase, that's possibly a defect, and they will possibly just replace it on the spot (assuming no dents). By the look of those photos, I would probably replace it & then cross my fingers that HTC agree with me.
