Who Do you guys like Better and for what reasons?

Agree with you there on Moore (saw her interview on the Daily Show about the movie, I'll have to check it out).
It still baffle's me about Santorum and why folks are gravitating towards him. I understand he's more "down to Earth" and a bit more in touch with the average man than Romney. But, he's just so out there on social issues. I'm a die hard liberal (but I loves me some politics) so I just don't see the appeal. Anyone a Santorum fan who can look past his social ideas/record?

Considering I share most of them, I really like the guy. But voted for Romney in the primary, because there is a difference between liking the guy and thinking he is the best person for the job (Same goes for Palin). The problem with Santorum is when you are running for president, people don't allow differences between what you say you believe in, and what you say you will do when you are in office. If you say you believe in something, but won't try to implement it, people won't believe you. He is not ready to go against Obama, because he doesn't have any message discipline.

The reason I can't see myself voting for ANY conservatives isn't really because I'm liberal, I'm actually not personally liberal. I believe that our government SHOULD be liberal, but I believe in being personally conservative. I've never used any illegal drug in my life, I rarely drink, and if I were to get a woman pregnant on accident, I wouldn't consider abortion as a viable option. I do however believe that people should have the right to make their own decisions, thus I don't see myself voting to have my government make decisions for me. I guess I'll never understand why people want to impose someone else's morality onto someone else. One-size-fits-all moral legislation is not the answer, but I think some people are perfectly fine with pushing 1 brand of morality across the whole population because it's a form of overt-racism and it also keeps societal classes in check.

So true, and in fact that medical procedure upon a male is not possible.;)

Sorry, couldn't resist.:D

Way to get me off topic AGAIN! :p The way I see it, if the courts hold me financially responsible for a child that I father, I think I should have some input in the decision making process about the possibility of an abortion.

But, back on track, it appears that Santorum wants us to go back to a puritan state. I'm waiting for him to make a statement saying that he thinks Parkas aren't a bad idea....

Yeah I saw that today. I can't stand him because of things like this. What a goon. He clearly just hates the internet, I'm sure it's over the whole "santorum" thing. Don't look it up on urban dictionary. ;) But if he actually believes that pornography is damaging out country, then I don't think an Oval office is right for him, but maybe a room with padded walls.

What people do in their own homes is their business. And some of the things he's said or supported in regards to this is just baffling to me. I guess I just don't see how this is even anywhere near an issue. This is a non-issue. I don't trust him... especially with my internet.

The song Vanilla Sex by NOFX comes to mind. Seriously, this song is from like, twenty years ago and it's so fitting to this.

Santorum stated the other day that instead of "Obamacare", he would let companies offer less healthcare for their employees so that the employers could pay their employees more money and the employees could use that money to buy their own healthcare. I'm sure employers would haven no problem taking their employees off of their health insurance, but I highly doubt that these companies would roll that money into an employee's salary, unless they mean roll it into their CEO's salary.

Romney stated that he doesn't see how any young person would vote Democrat since he claims that Social Security is an entitlement program that they would likely never benefit from. I don't understand why Social Security is considered an entitlement program if your paycheck always shows a social security deduction every pay period.

Does the GOP not realize that they lost the White House in 2008 because of the policies they championed for the previous 8 years were unpopular?

Just for clarity: The topic of this thread is who do you guys like better and for what reasons.

It is not, why do you hate them all and why? This thread is slowly going off topic, guys. Reign it in? :)

If the op wants to, I can change the topic to be more in line with the current tone of this discussion. PM me.

I'm not exactly what you're looking for in this thread considering the last 3-4 general elections have been deciding on the "lesser of 2 evils" IMO. If you're going to censor out the negative aspects of each candidate then you might as well lock this thread as the negatives of the candidates are going to generally outweigh the positives (especially for this field of candidates).

Considering the only GOP candidate that I see as the best for the progress of America is mostly being ignored by the national media (Ron Paul), the only thing left to discuss is how the front runners are saying what they truly believe, and thus coming across as being out of touch with mainstream America. Or are you hoping that goes unnoticed and thus the real reason you're hoping to "clean up this thread"?

It amazes me that people like both Ron Paul and Obama. To me, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

I like Ron Paul because he's not heavily endorsed by billionaires and seems to shoot straight with his answers. He doesn't sound as rehearsed as the other players and doesn't seem like he thinks the government needs to impose policy friendly to a specific religion. Since I don't see him emerging as the GOP's nominee, I feel Obama is the lesser of the evils when compared to the rest of the GOP candidates, granted he hasn't delivered on some of his key promises from his campaigning in 2008.

Ron Paul has at least one billionaire endorsement, but not as many as the other candidates.

"One Silicon Valley billionaire, Peter Thiel, a PayPal co-founder and now CEO of Clarium Captial Management, kept his wallet closed in February. Thiel previously gave the pro-Ron Paul Endorse Liberty super PAC $2.6 million."

Hi TX,

Please re-read my post. I am not censoring, but guiding. I asked that this thread stay on topic or I can change the topic to reflect the thread. Additionally, a new thread can be started that lists what folks dislike about the candidates. The OP asked, "Who do you guys like better and why?" I am just trying to help the OP stay OT.

No censoring needed, here. Again, I offer that if the OP wants the topic changed PM me or if you want to, please start a new thread that reflects the topic you want to discuss.

Thank you,
Steven

My only contention is that sometimes it's not about who you like better as much as it is who you dislike less. None of the candidates really excite me (and that includes the one currently in office), but I know which ones appear to be more out of touch with the average American. Take a look at this video for instance, Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com How does this speak to the American people? It would be nice if I can discuss how in-touch a candidate is with the American people, but I really don't see any candidate being able to relate to the average American.
