I still use mine daily as an Android test environment with Chrome. Starting to feel slow but that may just be me. Also don't think it's quite wide enough for my hands to be totally comfortable with the keyboard. Maybe time for an upgrade?

Mine's about to get a costom Nougat ROM. Haven't decided which one yet!
It's now spare as I have a generic Chinese 5.5" phone (Quad core MTK) on Marshmallow.

My wife is currently using mine as her daily driver. I retired it last February when I purchased a Nexus 5X. She had been using the Amazon Fire Phone until it dropped one too many times and the screen was unusable. It's got the last CM13.1 stable on it. Here in a couple weeks we'll get her a new phone and then I'll probably flash LOS onto it. I've been reading good things about it.

Well, I unlocked the bootloader easily enough, but when I try to flash TWRP I get the message "Recovery file size mismatch" on Twrp 3.0.0.0.
on the phone while in the stock recovery.

I don't know if you got an answer yet, but that is standard and a non-issue. You will be able to boot into recovery just fine.

So, my Moto G was in semi-retirement for a little while (I had put a custom ROM on and just updated it a couple of times), until my Mother-in-law needed a new phone. She's now using it.
