Idk if this is the best place, but seemed to fit nowhere else...

I have a HTC EVO 4G, with Sprint. I had two Blackberries before that with Tmo. Immediately, I noticed a severe downgrade in picture quality. The BB's cameras were far superior. Over time it got worse. I changed the outer lense and it came back to where I bought it, but still, it sucks for a 8MP camera. Take that plastic cover off, WOW. It's spectacular! So, it's a poor design. The other day I was testing geotagging with a SW developer. We needed samples from different handsets. Mine, and a coworker's BB. Again, I was reminded how much my camera sucks.

Can anyone tell me your experience with cameras from, other HTC's, other brands and models of androids? I may be willing to even drop Sprint, but I am spoiled to Android. Non-android phones, I wont consider, or I'd just go get a Torch. Thanks!

I highly doubt that the carrier has any affect on the quality of the pictures being taken. Maybe on the quality of the picture(s) being sent via MMS or email, but not what the camera on the phone actually takes. I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 (the Sprint version) and I think it takes great pictures. It has an 8MP camera on it also. I haven't done a lot of research on the Evo 4G, but I didn't see anything about picture quality being a problem.

HTC's actually have the worst cameras among the mainstream Android brands AFAIK. You should look to Samsung and Sony for cameras, they're the experts in those kinds of things. Those guys actually do make cameras and DSLRs.

I'm sorry to hear that..personally I haven't heard anything bad about the Evo camera- but I would definitely recommend the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the Motorola photon (TEAM ANDROID!)- although they are all 8mp cameras maybe the brand does make a difference. I would definitely try those out before switching carriers!

I don't think HTC has satisfactory camera as always. But if you don't want replace the phone with extra money, maybe you can choose a wonderful app for compensation.

You know, I was pretty pissy about the Galaxy Nexus camera initially - but after taking it to Phoenix Zoo Lights this week and taking incredible low light pics .. (I'd post samples, but I'm still too new here) I'll trade 3MP for better looking pictures.

I don't mean to come off as a smartass, but people that want great pictures shouldn't rely on your phone to provide them. You would be better off buying an actual camera. I know phones are convenient for snapping quick pics but if you want great pictures you should not rely on any phones camera.

The Samsung galaxy s3 will have a 12mp camera with correction and stabilization features. Camera with the ability to text and call? Yes sir.

in my history of best camera's for phone has to be sony's SATIO it was 12.1 megapixels which doesnt mean anything, but the camera was awsome incrediable colours and absolute clear image,
compared to my htc sensation 8megapixel, it does the job, but in most conditions with good lighting its very pixilated - it relies on very good clear days to be good.

what im angry about that htc sensation at 1080p will lag a few times when taking video's, in my experiance 720p is recommended just as samsung galaxy's too (which has a major fault at 1080p)
