ok, so i have my shiny, new, month old droid x set up the way i want it. i have z4root downloaded. not sure what else i will need, but i am hesitant to hit that permanent root button, because i dont want to have to setup my phone again. the only reason i seem to need to root is for the #1 reason most everyone else wants to root, the free wireless tether. i'm on a stock droid x like i said, running android version 2.2.1..... any more info you guys need, i'm willing to post. just needing some advice. thanks in advance.

You won't have to set anything back up by simply rooting

alright, thanks for that. so just permanent root through z4root, then follow the tuts on youtube for the wireless tether and i should be fine?!? then slowly progress to the backup, and new rom portions? i think i'm on the right track..... just testing the waters, and would like to get advice before i progress.

well, like gmenfan suggested, ill read the guide, take things slowly, and ease on in..... but along the way, i will be needing help, and appreciating every bit of it. hey, if this keeps up, i'll be able to have a signature in no time! but yeah, i got tired of lurking, and am ready to see what this android thing can really do. im digging it so far,and it's just stock! my girl is absolutely fed up with her iphone4 and really digging my phone. already have a convert!

ROMing is just as simple as rooting, and themeing

i dont think there is anything difficult with these phones
