Total newbie here so excuse the ignorance.
I googled Samsung Ace news and got to a site that says Samsung is going to provide an upgrade to 2.3.5 soon.
I assume this would be a simple download and press install and done.
So why is there no news about that here that I can find and why are people updating themselves (using third party software) still?
I thought it voids the warranty if something goes wrong?
I was considering updating from the 2.3.4 version that is shipping now but I guess I will wait until the official update is out.
    Thanks
    R.

lol :D There are too many people that can't wait for so long :D (and because updates depend on where you live, etc.)
But I'm with you, waiting for the official release too :p

I rather wait for the official updates. I thought about using ODIN but sounds a bit risky. I don't want to void my warranty because I'm in a 24 month contract!!

Simple. Because it'll never come to us.
I don't think update will be available for all regions.
I find odin really trustworthy. I've used odin to flash custom ROM and flashed back stock ROM many times(more than 2-3 times) without any single issue. :D
