I have my News and Weather app set to never auto refresh, but I just opened it and I noticed that the news items are as new as one hour old. Why would this happen? I haven't opened the app in at least a day.

When? And why would that matter if auto refresh is set to "never"?

I had the same issue with my news feed widget. Here is what solved it.

Go to Settings, Accounts & Sync

There you will notice all of your accounts that are setup to sync are listed. Click "News" and it will take you to the sync settings. Un-check the "sync news" option and that should take care of it for you. I haven't had my news feed widget sync automatically since I found this option a few weeks back. The widget only refreshes now when I click on the "refresh" icon at the bottom.

    Hope this helped..

oh...while I was in there, I also unchecked the option to sync Stocks.

Well, I had all that turned off already. Also, I'm not talking about the widget, just the app itself.
