I am a longtime Verizon customer, and I am up for my upgrade this coming week. I have narrowed my choices down to the Eris and the DROID. I am leaning toward the Eris. What are the pros or cons of both? Thanks for your help.

For me, it was the form factor. Eris getting Android 2.0 / 2.1 early next year, so that's not an issue.
Android phones are for tweakers, so make sure that you don't mind working on it.
For me, the biggest pro of the Eris is the nicer looker design, in my opinion. I read online reviews for both phones online and looked long and hard at both phones in my local Verizon store. I just think the Eris is a more attractive piece of equipment.
Having to fork over $100 less at the time of purchase was another factor, even though a minor one.

Two things convinced me to get the Eris: Looks/feel and price.
I figured that I'm going to be using this phone for two years, so I want something that looks nice and felt like a polished, refined product. There's a substantial build quality about the Eris that I really like.
The Eris was also Buy One, Get One Free so that made it a lot easier for me to get since my dad was getting one, too. I actually ended an old contract and added a new line to the family plan in order to get this...so I was already out $115 for the termination fee. I'm sure they'll continue to get cheaper and/or be free soon with Christmas right around the corner.
Plus, when we get the Android 2.0+ update, the differences between the Eris and Android will be minimal.

At first I really wanted the Droid. And, imo, I thought it actually looked nicer than the eris
apparently i'm like the only one lmao! But I was also hoping to get a physical keyboard :X =\ But my parents said they didnt wanna waste $100 more for that phone so I either had to go with Eris or rogue (hah didnt have to think about that one).
And actually TODAY was the first time I saw the two like in person, cuz before I had been looking online and I wasn't able to get around to going to a store and checking them out. But not that I've actually been able to physically see them side by side, Yeeees, Droid does have a larger screen, but I'd have to say Eris wins [: There are HARDLY any differences (especially with the new upgrade coming soon). And another downside was the physical keyboard on the Droid actually...really...sucks lol. It didn't feel as if you were really typing...just kind of sliding your fingers over the keys and pressing nothing. All the keys felt the same, so like I said, couldn't tell you were pressing buttons. Only way I felt me pressing them was if I used my nails and pressed quite hard...

I think if you are going to be using a lot of browser the Droid maaaay be better but other than that, the Eris does just about the same exact things!Pinch and zoom browser and pictures, a soon-to-come Google Navigation update, smaller, lighter, more ergonomic, better soft keyboard, sense UI, physical call end/ call send keys, cheaper, solid construction with only 1 moving part (trackball), ..... I guess I could go on and on. But these were some of the biggest things for me. The resolution is good enough for me, and compared to my BB Tour, the speed, especially web browsing, is plenty fast.
I think I watched every review on youtube on this subject, most of which were from phone pros (phonedog for one is great for this), and every one of them said they liked the Eris better. If someone who does nothing but researches/reviews/tests phones for a living, I'll take their word for it.

I have a Tour and am about to make the jump to one of these. So you are much happier with the Eris than the Tour? I am torn between the Droid and the Eris!

None of them, as far as ease of use, syncing with just about everything, browsing, and many other attributes come close to the Eris. I miss my full qwerty keyboard just a little bit, but I don't care. This thing does everything, except for messaging, better than any BB I ever owned. Plus, youtube videos look great on this thing

Sounds great! Thanks! I had exactly the same BB's in that order. So that's all I have been use to. I have less than a week then I will make the jump! Seems like Eris users are happier with it than Droid users are with theirs just from reading all these threads.
Keep reading. I agree that your observation is fact and not opinion, but don't forget what the Droid has over the Eris. It just may be that one thing that makes the deal for you, speed, screen size and resolution, camera flash and full physical keyboard being some of the biggest possibilites for this possible overlook.
I liked the Droid more when I played with it in the store, but now that I have the Eris, I think back to what I didn't like about the Droid in the store and I think they would be things that would have really bothered me. Most of which is attributed to the lack of Sense UI on the Droid.
I actually had decided on the motorola Droid but accidentally ordered the Droid Eris as I was hurrying at work. I ran around for 2 days trying to get the phone exchanged for the motarola droid. Finally got to a corporate store and got my hands on the moto droid and realized the physical keyboard really wan't going to be that much of a help and since Eris wil lbe getting 2.0 I think I'll keep my Eris. It's really grown on me as i've dug in and started playing with it and tweaking it.
