Root Why Haven't I Got Certain Benefits From Rooting Properly, or At All?

    Hi,

I recently rooted my HTC desire, and there are certain things I either can't do properly, or can't do at all, for example:

Ability to move applications that originally wouldn't move to the SD card to the SD card: I had to download an application for that, where as I thought it just automaticly does it, then I flashed a custom ROM and that didn't work either, and the reason I'm not satisfied with the application is beacuse it only does a certain amount.

Ability to delete demo applications: Once again I thought that was automatic but I had to download an application which doesn't do it at all.

So is this exactly what I get and how I get it from rooting? Or is it suppose to be the way I said but for some reason isn't?

    Thanks in advance...

P.S. I used UnrEVOked to root it...

Unfortunately your problem is (and please dont take offense) that you do not fully understand this.

The bloatware is part of the rom so you will either need to flash a custom rom or use adb to uninstall the system apps.

In regards to apps on the sd card, you will need to partition your SD card and flash a custom rom.

In the Sticky at the top of this forum, read the a2sd FAQ, the rooting FAQ and the How to remove system apps Guide

So if I flash a custom ROM AND "partition" my SD card, will it allow me to move ALL applications to my SD card?

One question: If I flash a custom ROM and partition my SD card, do I still need the "Apps2SD" application?

So how else should I partition it? Also, I am in the process of making a gold card to put a Vodafone ROM on my phone, and I was wondering, if I done this right after, would it mess that up?

Gparted as per the guide in the FAQ. However, partitioning will break the gold card aspect of the card. You can always re-gold it after partitioning though.

I've been reading the FAQ and I've decided just to wait for Gingerbread to come out, and in the mean time use "Apps2SD". Thank you very much for all your help and patience though.
