Why is my GMail address book appearing alongside my phone contacts when I want to send a text?

And how do I get rid of it?

When I want to send a message, I get a mountain of address book options because my email addresses from my Gmail account appear to have automatically imported themselves in to my contact list (I don't recall authorising this).

Anyway, I want to get rid of them so I just see my phone contacts (phone numbers only).

    Help!

    Thanks.

If you are syncing with gmail, you will have contacts there. the "text" app handles SMS and MMS. Since you can send MMS to email addresses, the email addresses are there to send to.

Thats only in people though. He is in messaging. Any views applied in people don't show up there.
