1. Are you ready for the Galaxy S20? Here is everything we know so far!

Why is my Mediapad T5 collapsing browser/apps windows when I connect the charger?

It's very annoying, because I set up a smart plug to automate charging between 40 and 80%.
So this collapse occurs when I'm busy using the tablet and the smart plug suddenly switches on. Is there a way to prevent this behaviour?

    yeah.....get a better tablet......LOL just kidding.

i do not have your tablet. but have you tried just a simple reboot? does it happen every time? try putting it in safe mode and see if still occurs. safe mode prevents 3rd party apps from running. if it still happens in safe mode then it is not an app. i would suggest doing a factory reset.

Could you provide more details about this 'smart plug' you're referring to. Who is makes it, and does it involve an app you need to install?

TP Link HS110, with apps Kasa, IFTTT, Macrodroid.

So that's just another smart plug device, it doesn't directly affect functionality of your Mediapad T5, it's an external device that can be used to turn power sources on or off. The Kasa Smart app is the controlling app for that smart plug, it also doesn't appear to have anything to do with Android's power management or as a launcher service.

A more likely cause for the problem with be Macrodroid, if you set up a script to do something like manage the charging cycle. That would have a direct effect on something like inadvertently closing open apps instead of manipulating your T5 power management.

Thanks for the hint, but the fact is that the problem pre-dates my little automation set-up. Even if I just connect the charger manually, the browser window collapses and leaves me with the tablet home screen. The strange thing is that this doesn't happen always!

So the problem occurs when you're charging your T5, and the smart plug issue is or isn't directly related?
And it's not a repeatable occurrence, just some of the time.

Most of the time. For instance, right now.
