thats the one thing that kind of irks me about switching. having them side by side you can really see the difference. i felt the size of the evo was perfect and even the my 3vo is pretty much perfect its this that makes me a tiny bit upset

It is slightly taller because the aspect ratio is different. It is 16:9 on 3vo

Personally for me, I like the Evo's screen width slightly better because wider allows me to consume web content more easily in portrait mode. But it's a tiny difference. Not too big of a deal.

^It's weird, it's a tiny difference but it kinda drives me nuts since the evo screen was so big and I was thankful for as much realistate I could get. Lol

Even though I really like my new 3vo, I dislike the the 'smaller' font.

I was comparing it with my Evo 4g and the text was sooo much nicer on the Evo4G. The 3D just seems a bit on the small side.

I am getting used to it, but do find myself occasionally squinting a bit.

    Oh well....

I like the new aspect ratio.

It leaves more to be seen when typing in portrait mode, which I do most of the time. It also better facilitates one-thumbed typing and swyping... not by a lot, but a noticeable difference imo.

I would suspect that this screen ratio is here to stay, due to people wanting to watch movies on their phones, netflix, and all that.

Personally I was comparing the Thunderbolt and Evo 3D for my real first Android phone, and I grew to like the wider look of the Thunderbolt. I didn't notice how much taller the 3VO was till I finally saw them together, and I ended up not liking it. Though when you look at it the aspect ratio does not change the screen that much but it sure makes it look like it does. I plan to watch movies on it so having it in 16:9 is ideal I guess.

Maybe this could be a poll to see which form factor/aspect ratio people prefer (E4G vs 3vo and possibly vs thunderbolt)?

Myself, I prefer the original aspect ratio of the E4G screen. But I DO love the new form factor. It fits the hand so much better. If I had to vote, I'd have to go 3vo. It sucks having to squint when viewing small font that can't be changed (such as with chandroid), but I'd rather have a phone that's a bit easier to hold and doesn't compromise on the overall screen size.

Just curious... Is Sprint getting the TB? If not, then why would you make that comparison?

No it isn't coming to Sprint. It's just that PyroJing mentioned it, and I figured it might have a different form factor. I've never held one myself. But it is in close relation to the evo family regardless of what network it's on so I thought it could be compared (hence the possibly part).

The evo screen is a lot wider, and when I put the 3D up to my ear I feel like it's too long most of the time... However I appreciate the aspect ratio and the UI seems to be "nicer" in my opinion.

I enjoy the new aspect ratio size because it makes the phone easier to hold in my hands and fit into my pocket.

I imagine the font isn't just about the screen width, that probably has more to do with the resolution than the screen width. I'm really loving the resolution because the hardest things to see are web pages and the HTC text reflow is second to none. One of my favorite features of HTC phones because it happens so effortlessly.

The gf just got the TBolt and when we went into the Sprint store I almost died when she pulled out her TBolt for me to compare size wise. A little demasculating having my gf pull out her TBolt with a bright purple rubber case around it and put next to the 3V0 only to see that hers was definitely bigger. I'd compare them because if I stay with Verizon that is what I'll be getting. Doesn't hurt to compare different carrier phones. In fact, I think phones have quite a bit of influence on what carrier people go to. AT&T & iPhone anyone?

Surprising that screen area difference is about the sum of two smilies on a laptop, isn't it? (Documented page 1, specs sticky thread.)

Besides, check out the case reviews - you can outsize her Bolt with one of those. Or just wink and tell her good things come in small packages.

I did like the size and shape of the 4G a lot when I had it, but I don't dislike the 3vo one bit. The extra resolution makes it very very worth it IMO. <3 this phone!

That won't work with her. The second any type of hardware other than size is brought up she stops listening haha. She doesn't care about a phone. She just enjoys saying hers is "bigger"

Definitely missing the wider screen size. Mostly due to the key width whilst typing in portrait mode. I'm suffering from fat finger syndrom more often now!

Comparing my wifes 4vo to mine surprises me every time.

I like the original EVO form factor for viewing, but like the new factor better for holding.
