Root Why is the FLASH COUNTER important?

I was hoping to find out why I always see warning about the FLASH COUNTER when people are discussing rooting, or trying new ROMS etc, unrooting, firmware stuff etc.



Does installing new custom ROMS increase the flash counter?

What does?

Does the FLASH COUNTER matter to me if I will never need warranty support for my Note?

Will upgrading to the eventual official ICS upgrade increase the flash counter? Will it matter?

Flash counter only matters for warranty. If you upgrade it to an official ROM through Kies, OTA or Mobile Odin it won't increase the counter.
