Why pay for texting when you can just E-Mail text?

If you use the google voice app, you can send and recieve for free. The only downside is that it doesn't do MMS, only SMS, and you have a different number so you have to get people to use a new ph# for you.

One thing I really like about using GV for texting is that you can get your messages on the gvoice website too, so when I'm at work and my wife texts me all day, I can reply from my pc instead of having to type on the tiny phone keyboard :p

And here I thought the only way to hear someone's voice was 2 tin cans and a string between them. Who came up with the idea of voice on a phone?

how does GV work with vzw to vzw or in-network plans?

if I call or text another vzw # through GV, does it count for minutes or is it still free?

Thats a good question, I would think vzw to vzw would be free but I don't know, I'll test it out later and find out.

from what I've read, at least for the recipient of the call, it still costs minutes. The reason being is that the call is coming from a GOOGLE landline, not a vzw mobile.

I believe that they are also charged for texts if they don't have them.
