wi fi saying connected but will not go on

"Connected" means that the phone is connected to the router. That doesn't mean that the router is connecting the phone to the internet.

Make sure that the router is connected to the internet. (Look at its settings page and make sure it has an IP address and at least one DNS address.)

Try the phone at a public wifi hotspot. If it connects there, something is set wrong with your router. If it doesn't, something could be set wrong with your phone.
