On my old LG Optimus (Android 2.1), you could set the wi-fi sleep policy to "When the screen turns off."

It was great, I could leave the wi-fi on pretty much all the time, and it would only become active if I was near a recognised hotspot and the screen was on.

On my Desire, that option is missing, there's only 15 mins, Never, etc.

I'm not sure if it's because this phone is a HTC, or because it's Android 2.2, but I really miss that option.
Is there any way of getting it back on the Desire?

Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > Wi-Fi Settings

On the Wifi Settings screen, press the Menu button and choose Advanced.
