I'm going to be getting a new phone tomorrow and I'm stuck between the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S2. However, I've heard the S2 uses different bits of memory for different things; about 2GB for apps and the rest for music, video etc, acting like an internal memory card. Is this true?

Some apps don't let you use widgets if they're installed onto the SD Card, so is this the case for the S2's internal memory? If I put the apps on the internal memory will widgets of some apps not work?

It's really putting me off the phone as I already have around 2gb of apps on iTunes so being restricted to 2gb is going to be nowhere near enough, and not being able to use widgets kind of negates the point of getting an Android.

If anyone could shed some light on this it'd be much appreciated. Thanks :)

There are some apps which it is not possible to move to sd. But if the app comes with the option to move it, it will work perfectly after you do. I wouldn't worry about 2gb not being enough for apps as android apps are a lot smaller than iphones. If you redownload all the apps you have on your iphone on the gs2 it will be a lot less than 2gb. I have about 140 apps, haven't moved any of them to sd and I've only used about 550mb.

What about games though? How big are some of the more high end titles? And I have a HTC Wildfire ATM and there are some apps that won't let me use widgets if it's on the SD card.

Not much of a gamer but the biggest one I own (gta) automatically saved most of the data to the sd card instead of the reserved 2gb. Just checked how big it is and its 13mb

Should have explained what you meant by the SD card. There are 2 memory for the phone. One is the 2GB for apps and the other is 11.5GB called Internal USB memory / Internal SD or what ever you want to call it. Shotgun meant that for big games, 600MB+ would be placed in the 11.5GB memory and only 13MB would be in the 2GB for apps. That means 2GB is quite ok in terms of available storage.

Also, move to SD would also help reduce the usage of the 2GB space. But not necessary in most cases.

    Regards
