Help Wife's Epic freezes randomly

My wife's Epic has twice now locked up and had to be rebooted via battery pull. After battery was pulled both times, phone boots up with application errors and force closures. Then she is unable to send any SMS (both by Handcent and Stock SMS). Last time, I just reflashed Syndicate Rom Frozen w/o wiping any data and it was fixed. Now it happened again. Does it sound like a hardware problem with the phone or a problem with the Rom? I am running the same Rom on my Epic and have not had one issue which is what bothers me. What do you suggest I do to fix it this go around?

Yeah my Syndicate ROM has been doing this a lot. I've said over in another thread that I was gonna flash Midnight...I'm sure that will help. I haven't done so yet though because when this ROM works, it works very nicely.

But ultimately I think I will just flash Midnight. It's just such a hassle.

When that happens it is generally data corruption, not a hardware issue.
