Wifi causing reception problems?

I've noticed poor call quality ever since I've had a wireless router in the house. I wasn't sure if it was just the phones, or if having so many wireless things is interfering with reception. I haven't had this problem with the home phones in the same room.

Outside, and even in a store with poor cell reception in the back, my droid did what my other phones could not. However, at home near all the computers and wireless madness, the call quality periodically goes south, and I occasionally drop to 1x. Are all of these waves bumping into my phone, or could it simply be the pipes?

(Sorry if this has been addressed already. I did a search here, but couldn't find an answer to my question.)

Actually, you may have stumbled on a cause for the 3G->1x switching issue that some people have. I'd help to test that theory but I took my Droids back due to reception issues.

The only thing I can suggest is to turn off all the wireless devices in your house.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a wireless/bluetooth junky. It would be nice if there were some other fix for this issue. I had the same problem with my LG Dare as well. However, I know the phone gets good reception over all because it didn't drop my calls in the back of a store that I love dearly. My other phones did. This is leading me to believe that it might actually be my wifi. However, with a phone that can use wifi, it seems rather odd that wifi would mess with the reception.

Ultimately, I think the Droids have either weak radio/antennae or poor signal management, as I get horrible/no reception at my mom's house (even outside), only a mile and a half from VZ store.

Could it have been that particular phone? I know that my phone is getting signals in previously dead zones. For this reason, I expected it would be okay near all of my high tech gadgets. I did the "can you hear me now" test lol, and was impressed. It doesn't drop calls in here or anything, but the call quality will drop at times.

I'm not so sure about the router idea. Turning my router off made no difference. As for the phone itself, whether the phone WiFi is on or not, I'm getting the same great 3G reception and same terrible 1x reception.

I went through 2 phones, both had reception issues at same spots in my town (right in middle of Balt/DC Corridor...signal should not be issue 2 miles from VZ stores).

As far as turning off wireless "router", thats a start. What about "cordless phones" for the home?

Not really sure. Could be the phone, I have no idea. My cordless phone is bluetooth as well, and is paired with my cell and headset. My droid is also pair with my laptop, both of which are paired with the same headset. I got the wireless printer around the same time I got this current router, so I can't really say. The home phone doesn't have reception problems, and I had reception problems with the Droid before I paired it with the land line.

What I meant was that as a test, power off all your wireless devices in the home and see if the Droid's reception improves.

It's so intermittent that it might be hard to tell. We'll see. It's uverse so the tower controls the net, tv, and phones... lol... I guess I can manage for an hour or so. I'll give it a go next weekend. Thanks for taking the time to respond colnago, and everyone else.

No prob...poor reception was my biggest complaint which is why I returned it. I'm really curious as to whether it can be resolved. I'll be ordering a Milestone this week to see if I fare better.

Yeah... my bluetooth keyboard will be here tomorrow. Hopefully my brain cells last past my 35th b-day. :) I wanted a wireless speaker for the bathroom too, but I talked myself out of it. lol... I've got it bad. I should probably *borrow* one of those vests from my dentist.
