Wifi issues

I had this same issue with the G1 I came from. The wifi simply doesn't connect... I'll select my network which has the correct password stored already, and then click connect, and nothing happens. It simply stays put saying "Disconnected" underneath the Wifi check box at the top.

I've had it connected before, last time it was after I left it alone for 10 minutes, and then it worked fine.

Has anyone run into this before with the Android operating system? Do I need to root my phone (or wait for froyo) to fix this? I'd really like to use my wifi, as T-Mobile's reception is awful.
