Help Wifi Tethering Hotspot DEAD on TMOBILE?

Until recently , I could use the built-in Wifi hotspot function on the N4.

Now I can't - it always sends my tablet to a nag web page that TMO tells me to sign up for their 2.5GB or 4.5GB hotspot add-on.

I have the old Value Unlimited plan which allows me unlimited data, talk, text & up until recently free hotspot.

Tried to do PDANet+ with FoxFi & still blocked on both Wifi & BlueTooth.

Any reason why?

Because now they consider tethering an add-on to "unlimited data", so if you want it, you pay extra for it.

Or did you mean "how can they tell?" That one's easy - whatever you have tethered to the phone isn't sending out the kind of data packets a phone would be sending out.

Kinda both.
It used to be you could use a Play App & use bluetooth to work around any blockage (@ least on SPCS) but not it looks like no tethering is no tethering.

I might just bite the bullet & give up my legacy unlimited plan & switch to a 2.5GB with Hotspot Simple Choice plan with TMO.

Were you also using a user agent switcher on your (tethered) browser?

I assume so, but if not, try that.
