Help Wildfire Froyo GPS signal loss

Hi All, I'm experiencing a persistant loss of GPS signal when using Google maps and navigation. All starts out fine and dandy until sometimes an hour or two into my journey when I get the searching for GPS message. If I switch off and then back on sometimes I get the Nav back but more often than not I can drive for miles and miles before GPS connection is re established which of course is no use at all if in the vcinity of the destination.I am wondering if my phone is getting to hot as it always feels hot when I take it out of it's cradle.
Has anyone else had similer problems or are there various GPS dead spots out there typically Spalding and The Fenlands.
Glad of any suggestions.
