With the recent short battery life issues occuring since the OTA, my phone is lucky to make it a day with minimal use. I am taking a trip in about two weeks to vegas and plan on using my phone heavily there for pictures and what not, so I wanted to pick up a spare battery to take with me. VZW online store is sold out of the standard D1 batteries currently but has D2 in stock and it shows the same stock part number. However the D2, according to the description uses 1420maH where as the D1 uses 1400maH. This is greek to me.

I remember reading a post recently where the extended battery for the D2 was working well with the D1 and I was just curious if anyone knows if the same will apply for the standard battery.

Any help from you guys is always appreciated!! Thanks!

Not to dog you...but seriously? Not even 10 threads below this one is a thread by Gideon stating that it does with about 27 replies.

I feel like an idiot....didn't think about checking amazon. Thanks for the link. Just picked up 2 spare new batteries and a battery charger for less then the price of one new battery through VZW.

Thanks for pointing this out, but if you would have taken the time to actually read the post, I was concerned about the standard battery. Gideon was talking about the extended battery with the additional door. I even made claim in my post about reading his post. Might want to actually pay attention before you try to "dog" someone. My question was a legitimate one that was not covered by gideon. For all I know, the standard batteries may have been slightly thicker on the D2 and my door would not have fit then. Please show some consideration next time.

Just a word of caution, some of these BP6Xs on Amazon might be old stock. I ordered one a while back which actually had a manufacture date that was older than the one in my release day D1.

I found that it held a charge worse than the original that it was supposed to replace :(

OK, let's apply a bit of logic to the question.

The extended battery for the D2 fits the DROID. We know that it fits the D2 b/c it is made for the D2.

Therefore, the original battery for the D2 has to fit as well.

    make sense?

I did the same - I got one that was 1 day older and one that was 3 months newer, and I got the P323 charger as well.

With 3 batteries, I found my original battery was the worst in holding a charge - the other 2 have held up well so far on a rooted, massively OC'd DROID with 170+ user apps installed. I agree, it is hit and miss, but for ~$4 - $6 / battery, you can buy a whole batch of them for the price of that one extended battery. Plus, no new cover required, no finding a new compatible case, no forcing it into the MM dock....

Even with a crappy charge on one of 3 batteries, in total I have way more battery power than having that one battery alone. Even if it lasts only 50% of my original battery, that's 50% more I had than before I purchased the spare, right? So if you get 2 spares, (3 total) even if both are 50% of your original you now have 100% extra capacity (i.e. you've doubled your usage time) until time to charge.

Using the P323 they charge relatively quickly, so in essence you could have 3 fully charged batteries when you walk out the door every morning - at twice the usage time you previously had.

So, for the price, it's still a win situation. A bit of roulette, if you will, but worth the effort at any rate.

Oh I definitely agree, if you have the ability to carry around spare batteries, then you can't beat these on amazon. Grab a bunch and see which one works out. I just don't have that luxury, so extended will have to do.

Verizon just sent me a new replacement battery for my D1. The box reads "Droid 2 standard battery" and then on the battery itself "BP6X" and says below, fits Droid/Droid2.

So, they are definitely one and the same at every level, if that was not entirely clear to any and all.

    Cheers

I bought three batteries and the external charge off Amazon - all three batteries hold charge better than my original. No complaints. And never need more than two in a day with some pretty serious use.

Yeah.. I thought it was mentioned elsewhere that the D2's stock battery was the BP6X, same as the D1...
