To me the most important ingredient of any app is the receptiveness of the developer. I have had many a poor and mediocre app turn into something functional and a pleasure to use by communicating my needs to the developers. I have also invited many developers to participate in this forum which has opened up new channels to improving their products. Too many people push progress aside by leaving 1 star market ratings and comments stating "The program works but the icon sucks." Just my 2 cents...

If you think most current apps are of poor quality, then you will likely think that most newly released apps are of poor quality.

Nope, the difference is its easier for Joe Average like you or me to get an app in the android market than in the iPhone store. So you will get some unpolished apps by definition of the freedom allowed.
